SawGuard Pro II Installation
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
When using SawGuard Pro to start a cut, depress the thumb lever to raise the guard. After cut has been started, release thumb lever immediately. If saw starts to “Kick” at any time, release thumb lever and saw trigger immediately.
Your circular saw manufacturer’s safety instructions should be read and reviewed prior to installing or using SawGuard Pro.
Always un-plug your circular saw from the power source when working on the saw, adjusting the saw and installing SawGuard Pro
STEP 1 – UNPLUG SAW FROM POWER SOURCE
STEP 2 – Using a standard screwdriver remove side front bolt “A1” from handle (Do Not Discard). Remove screw “A2” from top of handle with screwdriver. (Discard)
STEP 3 – Attach SawGuard Pro arm assembly “B”, holding aluminum arm towards the base of saw.
Step 4 – (A) Add bolt extension (Provided) to Bolt “A1” and replace through SawGuard Pro (Assembly “B”) And through saw handle. (Do Not Overtighten).
(B) Using a Phillips screwdriver, Install new black screw (provided) “A2” through small hole on SawGuard Pro (Assembly “B”) and into body of saw (where previous screw was removed). Tighten both bolt and screw reasonably snug without overtightening.
STEP 5– Using the star bit (T15 provided) remove screw “C” from saw (Do not discard), and remove lower guard-lifting thumb lever.
Step 6 – Using the star bit attach SawGuard Pro lower guard lifting mechanism (Assembly “D” Cam provided) with original screw. (CAM) should be seated against lower guard)
Caution: There are two (2) holes on the “Cam”. It is important to use the hole marked “S” For both SKIL and the BOSCH CSW41 models. Make sure aluminum arm of Assembly “B” Is below the “Cam” of Assembly “D”. (do not over tighten)
FINAL STEP – TEST OPERATION: DEPRESS THE THUMB LEVER OF THE SawGuard Pro SEVERAL TIMES TO VERIFY SMOOTH OPERATION OF THE LIFTING MECHANISM, ALLOWING THE LOWER SAFETY GUARD TO RETURN INSTANTLY TO ITS FULLY CLOSED POSITION AFTER RELEASING THE THUMB LEVER.
